That's exactly how I felt after watching the Mirzapur: The Movie trailer.
My first reaction was simple:
Paisa wasool!
But after watching it a couple of times, I started looking beyond the hype.
And that's where things get interesting.
Because as a fresh crime-action movie, this trailer looks very promising.
But as a Mirzapur movie, I still have some doubts.
And yes, I am going to say something that many Mirzapur fans may agree with:
Season 1 is the GOAT. Nothing can match it.
So the real question isn't whether Mirzapur: The Movie looks good.
It does.
The real question is:
Can it give us the same madness, rawness and impact that Season 1 gave us?
I'm not completely convinced yet.

And honestly, that's a risky move.
Because the audience already knows what Mirzapur feels like.
Now the makers have to prove that it belongs in theatres.
🔥 First Reaction: Paisa Wasool
The trailer works.
There is no doubt about that.
It has the familiar Mirzapur atmosphere, the violence, the power game and the characters we already know.
But there is also something new.
And that's what caught my attention.
For me, the trailer feels roughly 50–60% like the Mirzapur we already know, while the remaining part seems to be taking the story somewhere new.
The trailer doesn't reveal everything.
And I actually like that.
It creates curiosity.
I'm sitting here thinking:
“Okay, I know these characters. But what exactly are they going to do this time?”
That is a good sign.
💥 Munna Bhaiya: Bhai, Maza Aa Gaya!
Let's get straight to the biggest highlight.
Munna Bhaiya is back.
And my reaction?
Bhai maza aa gaya. Pure nostalgia.
There is something about seeing Munna again that instantly takes you back to the old Mirzapur days.
Divyenndu's Munna was one of the characters that gave the original series its unique flavour.
He was crazy.
He was funny.
He was irritating.
He was dangerous.
And somehow, you still wanted to see what he would do next.
So yes, his return is a huge reason why I want to watch this movie in theatres.
In fact, if you ask me what is the biggest theatre attraction for me right now, the answer is simple:
Munna Bhaiya on the big screen.
But there is also a big question.
How is Munna back?
That's something the movie absolutely needs to explain properly.
I don't want a weak excuse just to bring back a fan-favourite character.
If the writers have something smart planned, great.
If not, this could quickly become nothing more than fan service.
👎 Guddu Pandit Isn't Looking That Promising
Now comes the controversial part.
For me, Guddu Pandit is not looking as promising as I expected.
Ali Fazal has done a lot with this character over the years.
Guddu has changed from an ambitious young man into someone who has experienced violence, loss, revenge and power.
But somehow, in this trailer, I didn't get the same excitement from Guddu that I expected.
Maybe the final movie will change my opinion.
Maybe the trailer is simply hiding his best moments.
I hope so.
Because Guddu is one of the central pillars of Mirzapur.
If he doesn't deliver, the movie could lose some of its impact.
👑 Kaleen Bhaiya Looks Bigger
Now let's talk about Kaleen Bhaiya.
This is where I felt differently.
For me, Kaleen Bhaiya feels bigger this time.
Pankaj Tripathi doesn't need to scream to dominate a scene.
There is something about the way he carries himself as Kaleen Bhaiya.
He looks like a man who has already seen everything and is still several steps ahead.
And in this trailer, his presence feels bigger.
More powerful.
More important.
If Guddu didn't completely convince me, Kaleen Bhaiya definitely made me curious.
🔥 Action: This Is Where the Movie Looks Big-Screen Ready
This is probably the part of the trailer I enjoyed the most after Munna's return.
The action feels more raw and more like big-screen material.
That's important.
Because if you're taking Mirzapur from OTT to theatres, you need to give the audience something bigger.
I don't want the movie to feel like:
“Mirzapur Season 4, but in a cinema hall.”
The action needs to feel cinematic.
And from the trailer, at least visually and in terms of intensity, it seems to be heading in that direction.
There is aggression.
There is brutality.
And there is a certain rawness that fits the Mirzapur world.
This part definitely made me think:
“Haan bhai, theatre mein maza aa sakta hai.”
🎵 But the BGM? Not Up to the Mark
Now for something that disappointed me a little.
The background music is not up to the mark.
For a Mirzapur trailer, I expected more.
The franchise has always had a certain atmosphere.
The music and sound design have played a big role in creating that tension.
But here, I didn't get that goosebumps feeling I was expecting.
The visuals are doing a lot of the work.
The action is doing a lot of the work.
The characters are doing a lot of the work.
But the BGM?
It could have been much stronger.
And in a movie like this, that's important.
A powerful BGM can turn a good scene into a memorable one.
I hope the final film improves on this.
🧩 The Story Looks Familiar — But Something New Is There
This is where I think the trailer has played its cards quite smartly.
I would say the trailer feels 50–60% like classic Mirzapur.
We have the familiar characters.
We have the power struggle.
We have violence.
We have revenge.
We have the gaddi.
But there also seems to be something new happening.
And that's what keeps me interested.
The trailer doesn't completely explain the story.
Instead, it gives us enough information to understand the world while leaving enough questions unanswered.
That's exactly what a good trailer should do.
I'm curious to see what the movie actually has in store.
🎭 Ravi Kishan Could Be Interesting — But I Have Doubts
I'm genuinely excited to see Ravi Kishan in this world.
He has the personality and experience to fit into a film like this.
But I have one doubt.
Can he actually emerge as another Guddu Pandit-level character?
I'm not sure.
And that's not an insult to Ravi Kishan.
Guddu became important because of the journey of the character, not simply because of the actor playing him.
So Ravi Kishan has to bring something different.
He needs to create his own identity in the Mirzapur world.
If he manages that, he could become one of the movie's biggest surprises.
But I'm keeping my expectations slightly controlled.
⚠️ My Biggest Fear: A Repetitive Story
This is the one thing that can make or break the movie for me.
If the story becomes weak or repetitive, then all the nostalgia in the world won't save it.
We've already seen:
Gaddi ke liye fight.
Badla.
Power struggle.
Betrayal.
Violence.
So what is new?
That's what I want the movie to answer.
The trailer gives me some hope because it clearly seems to be hiding something.
But until I see the full story, I won't get carried away.
🐐 Sorry, But Season 1 Is Still the GOAT
This has to be said.
Nothing can match Mirzapur Season 1.
Not for me.
Season 1 had something special.
The characters were new.
The world felt unpredictable.
The violence had shock value.
The humour worked.
The dialogues became part of pop culture.
And most importantly, we didn't know what was going to happen next.
That freshness is almost impossible to recreate.
So I'm not going into Mirzapur: The Movie expecting it to beat Season 1.
That's an unfair expectation.
Instead, I want the movie to create its own identity.
If it can do that, I'll be happy.
🎬 Will I Watch It in Theatres?
Yes.
And the biggest reason?
Munna Bhaiya.
I genuinely want to see that character on a big screen with a theatre audience reacting around me.
That's the kind of moment that can make a theatrical experience special.
The action is another reason.
The trailer feels more raw and cinematic than a normal OTT continuation.
So yes, I'm interested in the theatre experience.
But I'm not booking my judgement until I see the story.
📈 Will Mirzapur: The Movie Be a Hit?
I think the movie will have a very good opening weekend.
The fan base is simply too strong.
People are going to come for Munna.
People are going to come for Guddu.
People are going to come for Kaleen Bhaiya.
And people are going to come because they simply want to experience Mirzapur on the big screen.
So yes, I can see the fans helping the movie become a hit.
But a blockbuster?
I'm doubtful.
At least right now.
The movie's lifetime performance will depend heavily on the story and word of mouth.
The first weekend can be driven by nostalgia.
The rest of the run has to be driven by quality.
⭐ My Rating Is Different Depending on How You Look at It
This is where my rating becomes interesting.
As a fresh crime-action movie:

If I forget the previous seasons and simply judge the trailer as a new crime-action movie, it looks really good.
The action feels raw.
The scale looks promising.
There is mystery.
There is curiosity.
And there are enough characters to keep things interesting.
But as a Mirzapur movie:
⭐ 3.5/5
Because the Mirzapur name comes with huge expectations.
And Season 1 has set a ridiculously high benchmark.
So when I compare this trailer with the original series, especially Season 1, I'm slightly less impressed.

After watching the trailer, my overall feeling is:
Paisa wasool.
But don't mistake that for saying the movie is already a masterpiece.
It isn't.
Not yet.
The trailer has done a good job of bringing back the nostalgia while adding enough new material to make me curious.
Munna Bhaiya is the biggest emotional hook.
Kaleen Bhaiya looks bigger.
Guddu hasn't completely convinced me.
The action looks raw and made for the big screen.
The BGM needs improvement.
And the biggest question remains the story.
If the story is fresh and strong, Mirzapur: The Movie could be a very entertaining theatrical experience.
If it becomes repetitive, the nostalgia may not be enough.
For now, I'm expecting a strong opening weekend and a possible hit.
But I'm not ready to call it a blockbuster.
And I'm definitely not expecting it to touch Season 1.
Because let's be honest:
Season 1 is the GOAT.
The movie doesn't need to beat it.
It just needs to prove that the Mirzapur bhaukaal still belongs on the big screen.
