Varanasi Leaked Photo Goes Viral: Dinosaur, Temples & Mahesh Babu Mystery. By:- RAJANI KANT

Awarapan 2 has opened much bigger than expected. Emraan Hashmi's return as Shivam Pandit has turned nostalgia into serious box-office momentum, but the real question is whether the sequel can convert that opening into an ₹100 crore India-net run.

There are comebacks.
And then there are comebacks that make you stop and look at the numbers twice.
Awarapan 2 appears to be one of them.
The Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani starrer arrived in theatres o.n August 14, just ahead of the Independence Day holiday, carrying something that money can't easily manufacture: nostalgia for the original Awarapan.
And the first-day numbers suggest that nostalgia has translated into ticket sales.
According to Sacnilk's latest tracking, Awarapan 2 collected approximately ₹22 crore net in India on Day 1, with an India gross of around ₹26.40 crore. Its overseas gross was estimated at approximately ₹2.50 crore, taking the reported Day 1 worldwide gross to around ₹28.90 crore.
Different box-office trackers have reported slightly different Day 1 figures. Bollywood Hungama, for example, has the India collection at approximately ₹21.89 crore.
That difference is normal during the first few days, when numbers are still estimates and can be revised.
For CineReview's analysis, ₹22 crore India net is the working Day 1 figure.
| Metric | Day 1 |
|---|---|
| India Net | ₹22 crore approx. |
| India Gross | ₹26.40 crore approx. |
| Overseas Gross | ₹2.50 crore approx. |
| Worldwide Gross | ₹28.90 crore approx. |
But the number that really stands out is not simply ₹22 crore.
It is what that opening means for Emraan Hashmi.
The film has reportedly delivered the actor's biggest opening, giving his theatrical career a major boost at a time when genuine star-driven openings have become increasingly difficult to achieve.
The opening did not arrive completely out of nowhere.
Before release, Awarapan 2 was already generating substantial advance-booking interest.
Pinkvilla reported that the film sold more than 1.25 lakh tickets across PVR Inox and Cinepolis for Day 1, making it Emraan Hashmi's career-best advance for a solo film.
Other reports indicated that advance sales for the opening period had crossed ₹9 crore gross, showing that audiences were committing to the film before reviews and word of mouth could influence the wider audience.
That distinction matters.
A strong opening created by last-minute walk-ins is one thing.
A strong opening supported by advance bookings is a much healthier signal.
It suggests that the film had an audience waiting for it.
Here's the fascinating part.
The original Awarapan wasn't a major theatrical blockbuster in 2007.
But over the years, it developed something arguably more valuable:
a loyal audience.
Its songs remained popular. Its emotional storyline stayed memorable. And Emraan Hashmi's performance as Shivam Pandit became one of the most recognisable parts of his career.
That means Awarapan 2 isn't starting from zero.
It has an emotional shortcut.
Audiences already know the world.
They already know the character.
And, perhaps most importantly, they already have an emotional connection to the title.
This isn't simply another Emraan Hashmi film.
It is Shivam Pandit returning nearly two decades later.
That's a powerful distinction.
The actor has appeared in plenty of films since Awarapan, but few have carried the same combination of music, emotion and character nostalgia.
The opening suggests that audiences were genuinely curious to see whether Hashmi could recreate that old magic.
So far, the answer from the box office is encouraging.
The release timing is another major advantage.
Awarapan 2 released on August 14, followed immediately by Independence Day.
That creates the kind of opening window every commercial film wants:
Friday release + national holiday + weekend.
If the film receives positive word of mouth, the holiday can amplify the effect.
If audiences reject it, however, even a holiday cannot save the film for long.
That's why the next two days are crucial.
The Independence Day clash looked competitive before release.
The first-day numbers, however, created a substantial gap.
Awarapan 2 opened at approximately ₹22 crore India net, while Batwara 1947 collected around ₹5.75 crore in India on Day 1.
That's a difference of more than ₹16 crore.
And there is an interesting twist.
Batwara 1947 had the more obvious Independence Day positioning because of its Partition-era story.
Yet audiences initially chose nostalgia, music and Emraan Hashmi.
For Day 1, at least, the verdict is clear:
Awarapan 2 has won the opening battle.
This is where the conversation gets interesting.
Before release, ₹100 crore would have sounded like a bold target for Awarapan 2.
After a roughly ₹22 crore opening, it is no longer an unrealistic discussion.
But it is still far from guaranteed.
The film now needs to prove something more important than its opening strength:
Can it sustain audience interest after the initial nostalgia rush?
That's why Saturday and Sunday will tell us much more about the film's ultimate box-office potential.
Based on the current opening, advance-booking strength, Independence Day holiday advantage, pre-release buzz and the audience curiosity surrounding the original film, CineReview is taking an aggressive position on the opening weekend.
These are CineReview's projections, not reported collections.
This is an intentionally bullish prediction.
For it to happen, Awarapan 2 will need strong Saturday and Sunday growth rather than simply maintaining its Day 1 level.
If the audience response is positive and the holiday produces the expected jump, the film has a pathway towards this range.
If word of mouth is mixed, however, the final weekend could fall considerably below our projection.
That is why we're calling this an aggressive forecast, rather than presenting it as a certainty.
If Awarapan 2 manages to reach ₹80–90 crore India net in its first three days, the entire box-office conversation changes.
At that point, the film would enter Monday with a serious cushion.
The ₹100 crore India-net milestone would then become a very realistic target rather than a speculative headline.
And that's when the real question would become:
Is Awarapan 2 merely a successful comeback, or is it one of the biggest surprise hits of 2026?
The Monday hold would provide the answer.
There are three reasons to be optimistic.
First, the opening is strong.
A ₹22 crore India-net Day 1 gives the film a substantial starting point.
Second, the advance booking was strong.
The pre-release demand indicates that the opening isn't entirely dependent on random walk-ins.
Third, the holiday timing is favourable.
Independence Day gives the film an opportunity to expand its audience rapidly.
But there are also reasons to remain cautious.
A sequel can benefit enormously from nostalgia during its first 24 hours.
The real test comes when audiences who aren't emotionally attached to the original begin deciding whether the film is worth recommending.
That's where word of mouth becomes king.
Forget the ₹100 crore target for a moment.
There is a more personal box-office story unfolding here.
Emraan Hashmi has spent years trying to find another theatrical moment that connects with audiences at this level.
Awarapan 2 may finally have given him one.
And the irony is beautiful.
He hasn't needed a completely new image.
He hasn't needed a gigantic action franchise.
He has returned to one of the characters audiences already loved.
Shivam Pandit may have been waiting for 19 years.
Apparently, so were the audiences.
🔥 Strong Opening | 🔥 Massive Nostalgia | 🔥 ₹100 Crore Within Reach
But here's the catch:
Day 1 proves that people came.
The weekend will tell us whether they loved what they saw.
If Saturday and Sunday explode, Awarapan 2 could turn a nostalgic comeback into a genuine box-office event.
And if CineReview's ₹80–90 crore India-net weekend prediction comes true, Monday could begin with a very different question:
How high can Awarapan 2 actually go?
Awarapan 2 collected approximately ₹22 crore net in India on Day 1, according to current tracking estimates. Figures may be revised.
The reported Day 1 worldwide gross is approximately ₹28.90 crore, including India and overseas markets.
CineReview currently projects ₹80–90 crore India net and ₹90–100 crore worldwide gross for the first three days. This is an editorial prediction, not a reported collection.
Yes. Based on the opening and current buzz, ₹100 crore India net is achievable, but the film will need strong weekend growth and a healthy post-holiday hold.
Current reports indicate that the film has delivered Emraan Hashmi's biggest opening, making it a significant theatrical comeback for the actor.
The film is benefiting from the cult following of the original Awarapan, Emraan Hashmi's return as Shivam Pandit, strong advance bookings, nostalgia and the favourable Independence Day release window.
Box-office note: Early collections are estimates and can be revised by tracking agencies. CineReview's weekend figures are editorial projections based on available opening data, advance bookings, release timing and observed audience buzz; they should not be confused with reported collections.
